MCIT Celebrates 10 Companies Completing 3rd Cycle of Wasel Program

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has celebrated the completion of the third cycle of its Wasel Programme, which supported 10 promising technology companies, while launching the programme’s fourth cycle with the participation of 12 new companies.

The initiative forms part of Qatar’s efforts to accelerate the growth of scalable technology companies and strengthen the country’s position as a regional hub for innovation, technology and digital entrepreneurship.

Third Cycle Highlights Diverse Technology Solutions

The 10 companies completing the third cycle developed innovative solutions across a wide range of sectors.

These included:

• Industrial technology

• Health technology

• Media technology

• Agricultural technology

• E-commerce

• Enterprise technology

• Logistics

The diversity of participating companies reflects the growing strength of Qatar’s technology and innovation ecosystem and the programme’s role in helping businesses develop solutions for different markets.

Wasel Companies Raise $13.8 Million in Investments

Across its first three cycles, the Wasel Programme has recorded significant results in supporting the growth of technology companies.

Participating companies have collectively:

• Raised approximately $13.8 million in investments

• Concluded 388 B2B business deals

• Achieved an average 32% revenue growth

• Benefited from 569 hours of mentoring

• Recorded an 89% satisfaction rate

The results highlight the programme’s contribution to helping technology companies strengthen their business models and pursue sustainable growth.

WareOne Expands Into Saudi Arabia

The third cycle also marked an important milestone for WareOne, which expanded its operations into Saudi Arabia.

WareOne CEO Khalifa Al-Thani said that taking a logistics platform into new markets requires more than funding, highlighting the importance of strategic relationships and a strong understanding of target markets.

He noted that the Wasel Programme provided the company with practical guidance and a strategic framework that helped strengthen its operations and accelerate its expansion into the Kingdom.

MCIT Launches Fourth Cycle With 12 New Companies

Following the completion of the third cycle, MCIT launched the fourth cycle of Wasel with 12 new technology companies.

The ministry said it will continue providing high-potential companies with specialised support aimed at strengthening their capabilities and helping them expand into new markets.

Director of the Digital Economy Department at MCIT, Faraj Jassim Abdullah, said the completion of the third cycle demonstrated the tangible impact of Wasel in helping promising technology companies grow and expand.

Director of Business Development at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ali Al Mawlawi, highlighted the partnership with Wasel as part of wider efforts to accelerate the growth of promising Qatari companies.

Through the collaboration, entrepreneurs will receive support in capacity building, market-entry strategies, regulatory guidance and financial guidance.

The partnership aims to empower startups, encourage innovation and contribute to Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.

Wasel Programme Now Supports 29 Companies

The Wasel Programme currently includes 29 technology companies and continues to attract promising businesses through a competitive selection process.

The programme is supported by strategic partners including the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, and the Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Qatar).
